That Empty House Feeling…
Yesterday, my husband and I were getting ready for a long Memorial Day Weekend, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When we went to put our beloved Labrador, Shadow, in the car, to take her to the Doggie Bed & Breakfast, she struggled to get up. She thrashed around as she tried to stand, but she couldn’t make her hind legs work, no matter what. We thought she had had a stroke and, leaping into action, we took her straightway to the vet. Diagnosis: old dog vestibular disease. She has a good chance at a positive outcome, but it was a big scare for us, and, now, coming home to an empty house, as she recuperates at the vet hospital, proves just how much this beloved four-legged has touched our hearts. Empty dog bed; vacant, static bowl in the kitchen; lonely leash hanging by the front door…
Have you ever had that Empty House Feeling? That sense of a spirit missing?
