This morning I awoke to a ding and text from Dr. Barnard of Tri-State Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Barnard and his wife Ann, an experienced vet tech, sent me a five-second video of my Shadow up on all fours, at last! Thank you, Gregg and Ann, for this sense of hope!
Shadow had lost the ability to stand because of “Old Dog Vestibular Disease,” a neurologic dysfunction that, fortunately, has a positive outcome in many cases.
It looks like Gregg and Ann Barnard and their staff of professionals, including Trisha, Jamie, and Sarah, may have given my Shadow a second lease on life. I am grateful to you all and to a veterinary practice that is like the clinic in All Creatures Great and Small, intimate and hands-on but with all the latest technologies at its disposal.
